Professional experience
Parag Shah is the head of the Advisory department at Grant Thornton Kenya. He joined the firm in 2002 and over the years has gained expertise in both direct and indirect tax. Since then, he held various positions in the tax department and became a partner at the firm in 2009.
Currently, Parag heads the advisory department and is engaged in transaction advisory, corporate finance, business risk and strategy, fraud investigations, due diligence engagements, mergers and acquisitions among others.
With his background in tax, Parag is involved in cross-border and international tax, transfer pricing defence, corporate and tax structuring. He also represents Grant Thornton on tax appeal cases.
He has substantial experience in advising clients in key industries such as manufacturing, not-for-profit, Energy and Natural resources, hospitality, health sector, public sector among others. He is involved in tax quality reviews for Grant Thornton member firms across the network.
Parag currently also heads the East Africa Advisory Practice and works with firms across Africa, Europe and the US. He is also keenly involved in mentoring and coaching new leaders and training graduates.
